About Linda Graf, CPCC
Beyond certifications and training, choosing a coach is really about connection. I offer 30-minute complimentary, introductory video-conference sessions. Within minutes, clients feel seen and heard at a very deep level and, by the end of the session, we'll both know whether my style is a match for your needs.
Coaching style
From 1993 - 2010, I had the good fortune to live across the road from Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California. I had access to some of the foremost teachers in mindfulness: Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Pema Chodrin, Joanna Macy, Thich Nhat Hanh, Dr. Rick Hanson and many others without famous names. In day-long, weekend and extended meditation retreats, I've witnessed thousands of minds settle; enabling deep, transformative insights to appear. With the right guidance this can actually happen anywhere - even during a coaching session!
My coaching style also utilizes processes I've learned working with nature as a catalyst to understanding life's challenges. Have you noticed how a walk on the beach or even in a city park allows your body to relax? Frenetic thinking and excessive worrying about problems diminish, giving room for new perspectives and answers to appear. Japanese doctors call this forest bathing. Western science uses the term biomimicry. Indigenous cultures have used the vision quest experience to support deeper understanding and inspiration during major life transitions for thousands of years.
Although it's great to spend time in 'wild' nature, these nature-based techniques work anywhere and benefits can be achieved quickly. I've facilitated groups in corporate offices (Boeing), hotel conference settings, and even over the phone (Walmart, Target, Unilever). Just shifting our attention toward the natural world - instantly opens us to new ways of seeing.
Call me 'scout'.
Life transitions are not unusual but some are definitely harder to navigate. I know first-hand.
Not long ago, my twenty-year relationship came to an abrupt end. In the same week I got a call from my doctor. Test results were back —cancer. A few months later, I said good-bye to my beloved dog and relocated from western Montana back home to the SF Bay Area to restart my life.
Some things I learned from the experience:
I am resilient.
Support can show up out of thin air.
Healing is a journey and has it's own time schedule.
Working with pain, whether emotional or physical, is the only way through.
Compassion for myself and others is balm for the soul - so is humor.
We may not be in control of what happens to us but we can choose how we respond.
Exploring and releasing beliefs that no longer serve allowed me to imagine and create an amazing new life.
But most important, because of my mindfulness studies, I chose to be intentional through the process. I decided to squeeze as much understanding as I could out of a painful experience so I could support others on their journey. I made it through! I'm ready to serve, support and guide.
